About Us
In 1991 they started a mail order company, called Northern Light, situated in Lochinver which is a small village on the north west coast of the Scottish Highlands. The company sold a wide variety of music albums and videos. Between 1992 and 1997 they also ran a record shop in the village specialising primarily in Celtic music.
In 1996 they created a record company called Strathan Media Productions Limited which specialised in releasing world-class Celtic and crossover music albums. Northern Light was sold to Strathan Media Productions Limited in 1997 and it continued to operate as a mail order arm of that company until 1998 when it was closed down to concentrate fully on developing the record label side of the business.
Between 1997 and 2009 Strathan Media Productions released 17 albums by artists such as Paul Schwartz, Lisa Lynne and Celtus. Compilation albums included music by artists such as Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan, Vince Gill, Secret Garden and Clannad. Together the albums sold many tens of thousands of copies. All were released on the Strathan Music record label which was, at that time, a trading name of Strathan Media Productions Limited.
In 2009 Karen and Brian decided to take a break from the music business and closed Strathan Media Productions at the end of that year.
In March 2011 they launched Strathan Music Limited which is a music rights management company. The company will specialise in finding and promoting beautiful, powerful and inspirational music in various genres. Music has an amazing power to move and motivate people and that is what Strathan will be aiming to do with the music it represents.
The company is located in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland. A landscape that is itself truly inspirational. |
Strathan Music Limited is a new business formed by Karen Brimm and Brian Reid. Although this is a new venture they have 20 years of experience in the music business.
