Various Artists: Beautiful Embrace
Beautiful Embrace is a stunning compilation of Celtic and crossover music performed by some of the world's finest artists. Every track on this album has the power to move the heart and soul. Major world-wide stars such as Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan, Hayley Westenra and Vince Gill are joined by many other well established and popular artists including Máire Brennan (lead vocalist from Clannad), Paul Schwartz, Lisbeth Scott (who has sung on film soundtracks as diverse as The Passion of The Christ, The Sixth Sense and The Chronicles of Narnia), Jeff Johnson, Secret Garden and Capercaillie. Several outstanding independent artists also appear including Quincy Coleman, Nadine Laughlin and Heather Sullivan. Some may say why are rock, country and pop stars on an album of Celtic and crossover music? Because at Strathan Music arbitrary musical boundaries are not strictly adhered to. All of the songs were chosen for their depth of emotion and beauty and they all fit together perfectly. We also believe that the mix of such a wide variety of artists makes Beautiful Embrace a very special album indeed. Background Information about some of the songs.... Don't Let Go was co-written by Bryan Adams for the film Spirit: Stallion of The Cimarron. Bryan sings the song as a duet with Sarah McLachlan and it is a truly entrancing performance. Angel Rays is sung by Gemma Hayes and was written for the Pierce Brosnan film Evelyn. This song is very emotive and may well bring a tear to your eye. Holding All My Love For You was written by the late great composer Michael Kamen and his cousin Julianna Raye for the Kevin Costner film Open Range. It is a disarmingly poignant song and is sung beautifully by Julianna Raye. Eastmountainsouth perform So Are You To Me. It is the shortest song on the album but is also one of the most stunning pieces of music we have ever heard. Kissing by Bliss is one of those songs that most artists can only dream about writing - truly a masterpiece that envelops the senses. Memories is an extremely atmospheric song performed by The Duggans (the founding members of the group are Noel and Pádraig Duggan - they are also members of Clannad). The vocals are performed by Orlagh Fallon and Moya Brennan (please note that Moya changed the spelling of her name from Máire quite recently as so many people mispronounced it). Someday is an extremely moving and powerful ballad written by two of the world's best artists - Vince Gill and Richard Marx. It makes a brilliant and uplifting end to the album. We would like to thank all of the artists and their representatives for making this album possible. |
